Done and added to gallery. Check it out for full view.

I think it took around 12 hours, six of which happened today. I am really really tired right now.

But I had a lot of fun with this and I’m glad I cleared it. I have at least one other thing I have to work on right now.

Newest WIP, started tonight. The lineart is halfway done and I think it took around three hours, so I’m beat. I hope I can finish the rest tomorrow. I don’t know how long the coloring is going to take (or even if I’m going to color it at all, I like the way the lineart looks by itself)

But hopefully not too long?

All new

Ugh. I’ve been so busy lately and I ended up spending way too much time in front of my computer screen. Two weeks ago I finally bought a domain name and I’ve been trying to find a suitable platform for it ever since. I can’t afford paying for a web host (and in any case, the whole web management business looks rather complicated to someone who is completely self-taught in this area)

I’ve tried Blogger for a while, because it seemed very easy to customize and, unlike WordPress, has more options for a personalized layout. However, the fact that you can’t create separate pages on it makes everything look messy and not quite web-site like. So eventually I had to compromise and move over to WP, even though the customization options are more limited. Having a separate page for my gallery is more important at the moment.

Anyway, I’ve updated said gallery with pretty much all the art I have that’s post-worthy at the moment (and surprisingly enough, there’s more original art than fanart? I sort of expected it to be the other way around, but who am I to complain?) There will be more soon, but mainly logs, because I find myself in a bit of a slump at the moment. Logs are a compromise in themselves anyway, because they help me keep the draw-something-everyday resolution.

In other news, look what came in the mail yesterday:

I’d already read them as scanlations, of course, but I went through them again anyway. It’s a shame the translation is a bit poor and leaves out all the honorifics. I already complained about it on my regular blog, but I doubt it would have been a lot of trouble to leave the honorifics and just explain what they mean on another page somewhere. I already decided to buy the rest of the manga directly in Japanese though.

Well, that’s pretty much it for now (I did say I don’t intend to be very loquacious around here) I’m meeting Raluca for tea and maybe a sketch session this afternoon and maybe I’ll find something to update about in our talks.

Today’s log is a quick one of Charlie, an older OC of mine. I need to work on him more apparently before I can put him in an actual full story.

I am unbelievably tired right now.

Sorry, no log today because in the short time I spent at home I was busy cooking.  Instead I have a WIP screenshot. Nothing out of the ordinary, just trying a few new things and playing around with a different shading style. I don’t like it very much, but I was thinking about switching from the ever-constant cell shading.

I finally found a shop that sells Wacom tablets and parts here in Bucharest and placed an order for a new set of nibs. I only have one spare at the moment and I was getting vaguely desperate about not finding any place to buy more. I’m glad that’s solved (and I hope it won’t cost me an arm and a leg)

Oh, and I’m  thinking of registering a domain name. It’s something I’d really like, but I need to think about it carefully first. Unfortunately aelfa.net is already taken and the owner isn’t even using it. It’s a shame, I wanted that one badly.

Stand in the shadows of the buildings

It’s always been difficult for me to draw Ichigo, I think perhaps it’s the hair. I really don’t know how KT manages to draw him again and again every week.

I’m feeling very melancholic today for some reason, and not really in the mood for my evening classes. Oh well.

In any case, I remembered an old project from the end of 2007, something I had completely forgotten about due to some health issues that led to hospitalization. It’s a manga and anime-oriented blog I had planned to start together with Raluca. I haven’t seen any Romanian blogs on the subject so far and it’s a shame, because a lot of teens and young people are more and more interested in the subject. I don’t know if we’ll actually manage to keep a regularly updated page, what with classes and school assignments, but I for one am willing to try.

Hello!

It’s always a little awkward when making first posts anywhere… Oh well, this is it. Welcome to my sketchblog.

Truth be told, I’ve been keeping a blog for a steady three years now and, even though I post all of my work there as well, I wanted to have a place exclusively dedicated to artwork and art-related posts. it may help me keep track of my progress, but also keep me from cramming friends’ pages with this stuff. I know it sucks when someone goes on about things that don’t really interest you.

That said, this is what my art looked like at the beginning of last year. Embarrassing, isn’t it? I hadn’t drawn anything in years when I decided to take it up again and take it up seriously. I don’t know just how much I’ve improved since then, but I know I have, so…

I’m currently working on some designs for a few original characters and doing fanart in my spare time. One of my best friends, Raluca pretty much frowns at me whenever I do that, but it’s so relaxing and fun. The same friend has been rooting for me to do a doujinshi lately and I might just give into that. In any case, I only draw as long as I can have fun with it.
